Joshua has been in the industry for over 20 years and has had the honor of opening two high-end salons with his business partner and friend, Kari. His primary goal is to create an environment where each stylist has creative freedom to develop their craft. Though Joshua’s heart and passion always stay consistent, which has driven him to help others succeed. Outside of the beauty industry, Joshua love to hang with his wife, daughter, and dogs, and rides his Harley and snowboards as much as time will allow.
You may be a great client for Joshua if you love a good laugh, amazing color execution and can chat about adventure sports, 90’s rap and crazy stories from childhood.

KARI CAMENISCH
Stylist, co-owner
Kari Camenisch is a graduate of Buena Vista University in finance. She has held many roles in the financial industry and later received her degree in Cosmetology from The Salon Professional Academy. Kari’s passion is to make people look and feel their best. Her professional commitment is to deliver a fresh and inspired style, along with maintaining a working knowledge of the ever-changing beauty industry.
Kari has a knack for creating masterful colors, textured pixies, and much more. She loves a good Chipotle burrito bowl, her sphynx cat’s, Bia and Gus, and Def Leppard.

KRISTEN ESSY
Stylist
Kristen is from West Des Moines and attended the Aveda Institute Des Moines. Her passion for the beauty industry started at a young age and continues to grow. Kristen is always eager to help her clients feel great about themselves and is committed to consistently providing excellent customer service.

Sammy grew up in Waukee, Iowa and graduated from the Aveda Institute in 2019. She loves assisting teammates with clients’ hair needs, along with building relationships. She strives to not only make her clients feel beautiful but to feel comfortable in her chair.
Sammy might be your choice of stylist if you appreciate connecting on a personal level with your stylist. Sammy cares deeply about everyone in her chair and transitions that care into each every look that she creates.

ABBEY SIMMONS
Stylist
Abbey, also known as “Gibby”, is originally from the Quad Cities. She moved to Ames in 2018 and graduated from PCI Academy in 2022. She loves to make your hair goals achievable and specializes in lived in colors, Keratin Complex certified, and Aqua Hair Extensions certified. Abbey has a passion for creating unique looks that her clients feel and look great in. In her free time she loves going to the movies, or being home with her fur babies! Did you know that Abbey has a Dalmation named Vienna? So cute!

LILY ROGGENSACK
Stylist
Lily has been in the beauty industry since 2018. She has a passion for hand painted balayage and lived-in colors that grow out seamlessly. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her family, boyfriend and friends.
Lily might be your stylist of choice if you appreciate a more calm and relaxing service. Lily is highly training in colors that grow out seamlessly. Watching her work is like watching and artist create a masterpiece!

JESSICA CUMMINS
Stylist
Jess is from Cedar Rapids where she attended Kirkwood Community college for a Business associates degree. She moved to the Des Moines area in 2019 with a plan to move to Arizona after a year. She ended up meeting her now husband, going back to school at the Aveda Institute and buying a house all in one year!
Since graduating in May of 2023, Jess has become an Aveda Ambassador and is certified in hand tied extensions.
Outside of doing hair, she loves reading, cooking, and hanging out with her friends.
Jess’s ideal client is someone who prefers not to have their ear chatted off for hours, those who work, read, or moms who need a break from the craziness! She also LOVES doing fashion colors!

KAYLIE JONES
Stylist
Kaylie has been in the beauty industry since 2016 and since then has acquired her cosmetology, nail technician, and esthetician licenses. She also spent time as an educator at the Aveda Institute Des Moines where she went to school herself. Her goal now as a stylist is to connect with her clients and do her best to give them the tools to look and feel beautiful!
Outside of the salon, Kaylie loves spending time with her Schnoodle named Noodle, singing karaoke, and spending time with friends and family. Coffee, early 2000’s emo music and Hell’s Kitchen (the tv show) are some of her jams.
Kaylie’s ideal client is one who likes to try new and fun things, but she is always up for anything that makes my client feel beautiful and confident! Also, someone who won’t mind my potty mouth and obsessive dog talk!”

Alivia is from Waukee, IA where she graduated high school in 2022. She found her passion in cosmetology school and graduated from the Aveda Institute of Des Moines in Fall 2023. Liv is our resident lash artist as well!
Outside of doing hair, she loves doing all things creative, traveling, Chic-Fil-a, rap music, and spending time with friends, family, and dogs.

I was born and raised in a small town in Missouri. I moved to Urbandale in 2022 to be closer to my brother. I graduated from Aveda Institute of Des Moines in August of 2024. I have a passion for taking care of people and creatively expressing my art through hair. I’m grateful to be in a field where I get to focus on both. In my free time, I like spending time with friends, family, and my cats.

EMILY
Stylist / Salon Task Master
Emily was originally from the eastern side of the state but her career in the beauty industry brought her to the central Iowa area. She graduated from The Aveda Institute, with a license in cosmetology in 2013. After salon management and ownership roles, Emily moved into the space of distribution of salon goods. She currently works full time for a beauty distribution company and has also been a national educator for Aqua Hair Extensions for 7 years! Emily does a lot of our salon management tasks but also works behind the chair at the salon on most Saturdays. If you didn’t know, Emily is married to Joshua!
